- what if we were in a video game? the holy spirit is the program running us, the "Player" is god, and maybe Jesus or some other people were his characters.
- think about it: our technology allows us to create computers that can process more than the human brain. in the sims, your sim is blissfully unaware that it is in a program, and it's thoughts are limited to "do chores", "go to the bathroom", and whatever pops up.
- what if we made a game/simulation on a system so powerful, we could create a mini world? the mini people could think they are in the real world, and they could prove that there are rules to their existence, like our science.
- i don't think this idea should be a religion, but rather a perception of how we are here, and how it is scientifically possible for their to be a god, or allah, or yahwey, or whatever you call him.

I think you got a great point, but I think it could be tied up a little better. First, we need to analyze this question; What is religion? Now, anyone who feels as though I am moving outside of the limits, please suggest it to administrator to have this post deleted, or let me know so that I can explain further. I would also like to inform the reader that I am a Buddhist.
What is religion? I'm not a theologist, but from what I can gather, it is the human inabaility to comprehend the unexplained. It is our method of justifying what we can't explain with reasonable terms. We need to analyze the five most dominant religions of this World; Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, and Buddhism. The first three are all derivatives of one another. Christianity is derived from Judaism, and Islam from Christianity. As a matter of fact, the only initial difference between early Christianity and Judaism, was that the Jews refused to accept Christ as the Messiah.
Now that I have given a slightly siginificant account of the three religions that most support my thesis, we can begin to think. I refuse to question why Jesus acted in such a saintly manner, for the fact that I am aware of strict Catholics reading this. I also will not question the material in the bible for the same reasons, but if anyone should choose to PM, I will be more than happy to reveal my opinion.
This is just a general view of my own opinion, but to go in depth, and outside of religion, I feel indifference to religion. For those of you who would feel it necessary to denounce my own religion, if you have the decency to call it that, go ahead. I have my own doubts about religion, and they do not exclude my own. I have doubts of a higher power. When you think about it, why is it that we are so intelligent? Did a higher power make us so? Did it make us so intelligent, that we could question the belief of it's existence? Why is it that less evovled animals are excluded from religion? Have they not earned their right to what some may call heaven? Or the place I may call the stratosphere? Because, I have to tell you, if heaven is right voer our heads, then I've been to heaven more times than I can count. The angel that took me there happened to be named "US-1428." The intelligence of dolphins can even be compared to that of Humans, but do they believe in God? And reincarnation? What? Once a person dies, the mind is gone extinguished, finished. This is the question. What happens next? Do we start over, or do we go to heaven, or hell, or do we go into the worst path of them all. It is worse than heaven, and better than Hell; non-existence. Do we simply cease to exist? If so, it disappoints me that something as powerful as the mind could be defeated by age. Our potential is limitless. The chart of that potential will forever rise, even after I, or the reader cease to exist. If the mind could live on, that would be greater than heaven. It would be, in itself, Heaven.
All in all, one could say that I've lost my faith in religion, because I've begun to question life and death. That is all there is left for me; Life and Death. In my life, I will expand the potential of my mind up until it is my time to...expire. I it just so strange how something so powerful could just...disappear. But I want to let the reader know something, and I want to make sure they understand. You should never try to convert someone unless they ask. NEVER, NEVER, NEVER. I was a christian once, and I finished with it. It did not provide for me what I wanted. Buddhism gives me doubts everyday, but I will blast the person who tries to convince me to Christianity. Understnad that though I have lost fiath in religion, I have not lost faith in myself. This is what the world needs to understand to respect one another. I have, nor will I ever ask anyone to aggree with me. That is, and will forever be, your choice. That's the power of your mind, and you come up with what you believe. Whatever it is, however it is. If you belive that we're being controlled, go ahead. I'm just telling you that I make my own choices, and there is no such thing as luck.

Well, you're easily impressed. Mike's in I.B so, he's just messing with our heads with all those words which I still haven't even bothered to read yet. But Dave, if video weren't even around until the past, *takes wild guess* 20 years or so, I doubt that's what it is. The only people who truely believe this "idea" of yours are probobly the people who had a little too much to drink before seeing The Matrix. It's a good movie, but to believe it would be crazy.

1) IB doesn't mean you're smarter. It means you take more work. A mule can do work and be stupid. A monkey can not do work and be smart... for a monkey.
2) You didn't read it all? And you want to comment, no, INSULT those "crazy" enough to believe/think of this as an understanding to the being of our existence? Listen, science is the only truth we have right now. This could be a scientifical explanation to everything. Nothing can be proven, only speculated.
3) "But Dave, if video weren't even around until the past, *takes wild guess* 20 years or so, I doubt that's what it is".
So, what i was saying is that god could have us in a simulation type thing, a video game if you will. I'm not saying we are connected directly to his world a la Matrix, and i'm sure that our level of technology has nothing to do with the capabilities of our makers.
4) You said i am easily impressed. Like, in a bad way. That's practically a slap to the face. I unfortunatly cannot punch you over the internet, so i'm just gonna say Yo Momma's so fat she made Jabba the Hutt go "WHOAH!"
